Man charged with allegedly stealing woman's iPhones last year
Thirty-three-year-old Shamar Champagne, one of two men who allegedly robbed a woman at gunpoint in Portmore, St Catherine last year has been charged.
He is answering to charges of robbery with aggravation and possession of a prohibited weapon.
Champagne, who is of a Potterdale Place address in the Cumberland area, was charged yesterday by detectives assigned to the Portmore Criminal Investigation Branch.
His co-accused Leon Pennicooke had previously been charged in the matter.
Allegations are that about 6:30 a.m., on Saturday, September 18, the complainant was standing along Porthenderson Road in the vicinity of 5 North Greater Portmore.
When a black Honda Stream motorcar suddenly stopped and both men allegedly pounced on her.
Pennicooke allegedly pointed a gun at the complainant and robbed her of a knapsack valued $3,000 which contained an iPhone 12 Pro Max and a rose Gold iPhone XR.
Both accused escaped in the said vehicle.
A report was made to the police station and an investigation launched in the matter .
Champagne was allegedly pointed out by the complainant during an identification parade.
He was formally charged following a question-and-answer session in presence of an attorney.
A court date is being finalised for his appearance.
