More than 25,000 people in hurricane shelters

Over 25,000 people are in shelters across Jamaica with more people going in since last night.

Local government minister Desmond McKenzie says the authorities are assessing how to deal with the numbers on a long-term basis.

He has also warned shelter operators that no one should be turned away and all shelters should remain open throughout this week.

McKenzie says assessments will be done to determine which shelters will stay open thereafter.
