Bermuda government warns men against purchasing drugs to deal with erectile dysfunction
Men in Bermuda looking for a natural boost in the bedroom are being urged to think twice after health officials warned that several sexual enhancement products marketed as herbal remedies were found to contain hidden prescription drugs.
The Bermuda Ministry of Health has advised the public to stop using several products sold for erectile dysfunction and sexual performance enhancement after government laboratory tests confirmed they contained one or more prescription-only medications that were not listed on their labels.
Health Minister Kim Wilson said the products pose serious health risks, particularly for people with underlying medical conditions or those taking other medications.
"Our priority is to protect the health and safety of our community. These products are being marketed as natural remedies, but they contain undisclosed prescription-only drugs that can cause serious harm," Wilson said.
She urged anyone who has purchased the products to stop using them immediately and consult a doctor if they experience any side effects.
The affected products are:
Butterfield's 100% Organic Men's All Night Pill
Butterfield's 100% Organic Men's Black Leopard Male Enhancer Honey
Butterfield's 100% Organic Electrifying Royal Energy Honey
Butterfield's 100% Organic Feel Good Electrifying Gummies
The ministry warned that possible side effects include prolonged or painful erections requiring emergency treatment, sudden vision or hearing loss, severe drops in blood pressure, serious allergic reactions, heart attack, stroke and irregular heartbeat.
Officials also cautioned consumers about other products sold under the "Royal Honey" label, noting that similar items have also been found to contain undeclared prescription drugs.
Environmental Health Officers are continuing to monitor the situation while urging consumers to be cautious when purchasing products claiming to naturally treat erectile dysfunction or enhance sexual performance.
